Co-op Image Archive


The archive exists to maintain a history of Co-op Image through event documentation and program productions. This archive will also act as an online digital video catalogue for use in Co-op Image youth video projects.

Lotus Keep 1017 N Western gallery presented a Co-op Image art spectacular Viva l' Arte May  30th from 4pm to Midnight featuring works created through a Museum of Contemporary Art residency at Little Village Social Justice High School, and 6 other latino artists from Chicago.  Thanks to Lotus Keep gallery (Quang and Ammish) and all those that supported these young artists. Big ups to Buddy at Pontiac for hosting our 5th annual  Bike and Rummage Sale 

 
•MONOWORKS went off on Saturday, December 8th at Lotus Keep Gallery which featured a series of one of a kind art works created through a partnership with Chicago Center for the Glass Arts, 42 Co-op Image youth from the Austin, Garfield Park, and Humboldt Park Communities, and lead artists Jeremy Scidmore and Mike Bancroft. The Monoworks depict original digital photographic collages collected in the infamous and beautiful city of neighborhoods. The collages have been screen printed onto recycled glass and fused with multiple layers. Thanks to Quang and Hamish for having us at the gallery.

Triangulation: Mapping Community was a smash thank you to Reversible Eye Gallery. We showed a multimedia installation that was created in direct partnership with Reversible Eye Gallery, The Institute of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture, Co-op Image youth, and Humboldt Park Artist. Triangulation contained various elements of visual art and also displayed works created by the Co-op Image Mobile Media Labs and G�shoagie in an all encompassing series of invisible columns of sound.

�Great Times with Earth Squad Productions who lead a tour of the Great Wall of Chicago the mural that Co-op Image has been helping with for over two years on October 13th and 20th from greatwallofchicago.com.

�Thanks to Hideous Beast and I space for helping to sponso the third annual in/outdoor chilli screening and Mini Movie Fest/workshop which were events for producing and screening a selection of Mini Movies (A low quality digital film clip taken with a digital still camera, videophone, or PDA)before a live audience.

�The Jazz Benefit for Co-op's youth arts initiatives
at the Winds Cafe 2657 N Kedzie was amazing thanks to all that attended and those that donated items for the live auction. Just Baked at 901 N Damen donated a beautiful basket of goodies, and of course Chicago Hot Glass.

Co-op has completed production on the second community mural project. Several volunteers donated there time and energy to creating this piece:
Veva, Osvaldo, Flash, Rivka, and the random artist who disappeared on Sunday. stay tuned for pictures and a video produced by the youth at the wall.

The indoor outdoor screening went swimmingly, we will try one when it get's even colder. As a result enough money was raised to get a heater for the youth art space. Big ups to the filmmakers and attendees who braved the cold.
